Dining at the Blue Room was a special treat for couples, families and children. Sunday brunch will return to the Blue Room when the hotel reopens in June 2009. Monumental chandeliers in the lobby are cleaned by hand to remove decades of grime and restore them to their original grandeur. A craftsman cleans and restores one of the antique chandeliers in the Blue Room. The -Stormin of the Sazerac- in 1949 opened the famous Sazerac Bar to women for the first time. Performances by the Dawnbusters were broadcast from the Roosevelt by WWL radio. Trumpeter Al Hirt is at the lower left on the floor in this 1930s photo.

Yall are the best and one of the most favorite memories of my life. Everytime I hear the song, “Dating A Memory,” it is about your hotel. All decorative beauty and the great days of politics, good eats and drink, music, and romance.
